Before comparing prices, answer one question: do you already own the game on the account you intend to use?
That answer matters when a search produces both World War Z: Aftermath and an Aftermath Upgrade. Similar names can describe different purchasing routes. The cheaper-looking result is only useful if it works with what is already in your library.
For someone starting from nothing
Look for a full-game purchase whose contents explicitly include Aftermath. Fanatical has a World War Z: Aftermath Steam product listing; check that exact product and its activation region rather than treating every World War Z search result as equivalent. Full Aftermath product
A good basket check is to read the contents without looking at the price first. Does it contain the game? Which platform or store activates it? Does it name the edition you came for? Only then compare the amount.
For an existing Steam owner
Steam’s Aftermath Upgrade page states that World War Z is required. Check your library and the add-on’s requirements together. Ownership on another storefront should not be treated as proof that a Steam add-on will attach to it. Steam Aftermath Upgrade
Our decision tree is deliberately short:
- No copy on the intended account: investigate a full-game package.
- Existing compatible copy: compare the upgrade route with other eligible offers.
- Not sure what you own: resolve that first.
The point is to avoid paying to answer a question your library can settle.
If the first-person footage brought you here
Focus identifies optional first-person play as an Aftermath feature. It also describes co-op for up to four players and AI teammates for solo play. Those are product facts to check against your intended purchase. Focus Aftermath page
Our older Moscow recording has a different purpose. It shows a particular encounter using ReShade and a largely removed HUD. Do not expect its exact appearance from an untouched installation, and do not use an old recording as a benchmark for your current hardware.
Agree on the session
Send friends the exact edition and storefront you are considering. Ask everyone to check whether they already own an eligible copy, rather than sending one purchase link and assuming it is right for the whole group.
Cross-play, ownership and progression are separate questions. This guide does not establish every console/store combination or a save-transfer promise. For a mixed-platform group, use the current compatibility sources linked in our planner before anyone buys.
Our buying route
For newcomers interested in the first-person option, investigate a full Aftermath package. Existing owners should examine the compatible upgrade route. For both groups, compare what the product contains before comparing its price.
